FashionKIC (Knowledge Innovation Community for Sustainable Fashion) is a European Union funded project aiming to create a transnational knowledge and innovation ecosystem for the sustainable and digital transformation of the fashion and textile industry in Europe. The project brings together businesses, designers, technology providers, universities, public organizations, and investors in order to foster innovation, circular economy practices, and the development of new skills in the fashion sector. Through digital tools, educational activities, a start-up acceleration programme, and transnational innovation hubs, FashionKIC seeks to strengthen the sustainability, competitiveness, and interconnectedness of the European fashion ecosystem.
The main objectives of the project are:
- Create an interconnected European innovation ecosystem for sustainable fashion.
- Support the adoption of sustainable and circular practices in the fashion and textile sector.
- Strengthen digital transformation through AI tools, digital platforms, and new technologies.
- Develop skills and educational programmes for professionals, start-ups, and emerging designers.
- Support and accelerate fashion start-ups and innovative business ideas with a focus on sustainability.
- Enhance European collaboration and knowledge exchange between different regional fashion ecosystems.

Envolve’s role in the project
Envolve participates as the project coordinator and plays a central role in the design, management, and implementation of FashionKIC activities. In parallel, it leads the Fashion Sustainability Acceleration Programme, supporting start-ups and innovative fashion businesses through mentoring, workshops, investor matchmaking, and business development activities. Furthermore, Envolve contributes to the development of the project’s sustainability strategy and to the establishment of the European collaboration ecosystem of the project.
