Project Description
PIONEERS-6G aims to design the Omni-IoT Platform, a globally scalable, energy-efficient, resilient, and secure foundation for 6G IoT applications. The project addresses the limitations of current 5G/5G-A systems for IoT use cases across industrial (IIoT), underground (UGIoT), underwater (UWIoT), and global (GIoT) environments.
Objectives
PIONEERS-6G pursues five research objectives:
- Application-centric project design methodology
- Intelligent, energy-efficient, and secure solutions for 6G IoT devices
- Resilient and accurate solutions for 6G IoT connectivity, sensing, and positioning
- Transform the 5G SBA into a resilient and autonomous IoT connectivity platform architecture
- Enable wide uptake of PIONEERS-6G results within the 6G IoT ecosystem

36 months starting on May 2026, organised across 5 Work Packages.
Envolve’s role in the project
Envolve leads WP5 on Communication, Standardisation, Dissemination, Value Chain & Business Models, taking full ownership of the project’s communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities. It designs and implements the SME Engagement Framework – giving 20+ SMEs early access to lab-validated research outcomes – and conducts value chain analyses and business model development to support the industrial uptake of the Omni-IoT platform. Envolve also drives gender & inclusion actions and participatory stakeholder engagement methods, drawing on its experience from projects such as EVOLVED-5G, 6G-VERSUS, 5G-Digits, Skills2Scale, and DeepTechSeeds.
